Great mentions on recent blogs

Got a couple nice mentions recently, so I thought I’d post them.

Bookviews.com is run by Alan Caruba, who has been doing it for twenty years or so. he helped to start the National Book Critics Circle. He listed my book as one of ten novels in his “Book Picks of the Month” for january:

“The Annunciations of Hank Meyerson, Mama’s Boy and Scholar is one of those great titles that just grabs you by the lapels and insists on being read. It is the work of Scott Muskin ($23.95, Hooded Friar Press, Nashville, TN) and if you like personality-driven stories, he has served up a wry, shaggy, chubby one in the person of Hank Meyerson who over-thinks everything, loves the poetry of Emily Dickinson, and, oh yes, falls in love with his sister-in-law. This is a very enjoyable reading experience in many ways and it is no surprise that the novel is the inaugural winner of the Parthenon Prize for Fiction and that Muskin is beginning to be noticed for his talent.”

See his full January list here.

And also a local blogger who read the book in advanced copy and had this to say:

“I’m currently reading People of the Book, by Geraldine Brooks, and I’m really enjoying it. I had just finished reading an ARC of Scott Muskin’s The Annunciations of Hank Meyerson, Mama’s Boy and Scholar, and although I enjoyed it—a lot—the novel is a redemption song about a broken man. It’s the kind of book with deliberate character studies and situations that you can admire for the artfulness of the writing, but, by turns, you’re often left emotionally drained. Even the uplifting bits can make you feel a little empty. I think Scott Muskin is all kinds of talented, and I want to help him promote this book by recommending that everyone read it.”
